CDM is looking to hire a fulltime Transportation Planner in its Los Angeles, CA office.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    ·         Managing, preparing, and processing environmental impact reports/studies and Alternatives

    ·         Analysis for major transit corridor projects as well as major transportation studies in accordance with CEQA and NEPA

    ·         Project implementation in the areas of rail, bus way, highway/carpool lane, goods movement, arterial and signal improvements, bikeway and pedestrian projects, and station area planning

    ·         Managing contracts to ensure completion of projects within scope, on-time and within budget

    ·         Preparing comprehensive reports and correspondence; understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, contracts, and budget

    ·         Communicating effectively orally and in writing with ability to make presentations to policy boards

Requirements:

    ·         7 - 10 years previous planning experience since Bachelor's

    ·         Membership in at least one national professional society required

    ·        Master’s Degree in Urban or Transportation Planning, Engineering, Business, Public Administration, Political Science, or other related field is preferred, along with four years of progressively responsible experience in transportation planning, transportation finance, operations planning, or other related area, preferably in the southern California area

    ·         A.I.C.P. and/or related certification is preferred

Transportation Planner

Los Angeles, CA

 

CDM has an immediate need for a full time Planner to join its office in Los Angeles, CA.

  •       The primary function of this role will be to serve as CDM’s on-site liaison at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

  •       You will be responsible for the coordination between CDM, our client (Los Angeles World Airports-LAWA), and the Project Delivery Team (design-engineering consultant’s team).

  •       This will require you to work fulltime at LAX

  •       Assuming a certain degree of project management responsibility

  •       Providing planning expertise when requested to project teams

  •       Potentially supervising the work of a few engineers, scientists, planners, technicians, draftsmen, or others who are assisting on assigned work

  •       Acting as a mentor for lower-level employees 

Requirements:

  •         7-10 years of experience in transportation planning since Bachelor’s degree

  •         Full understanding of and experience with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)

  •         Must be able to document meeting action items “on-the-fly” and be persistent in following up on actions affecting CDM

  •         Strong oral and written communication skills

  •         Good coordination and organizational skill

  •         Experience with airport development or large infrastructure projects is a plus

  •         Must be willing to work in a fast-moving dynamic environment

THE METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

JUNIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST

Monthly Salary Range: $4,441 - $5,836

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California currently has an opening for a Junior Environmental Specialist.  This is an entry-level position and will be responsible for gathering information both in the office and in the field on environmental issues, inputs data in various electronic databases, creates and maintains environmental tracking databases, assists in preparation and processing of environmental notices and comment letters and assist on various environmental planning and management issues, tasks, and projects.

Duties include but are not limited to:

·        Assist in the review of outside agencies’ environmental documentation for potential implications to Metropolitan and assist in the coordination, preparation, and processing of Metropolitan comment letters to outside agencies.

·        Work with various computer programs and databases, such as Streets and Trips, GIS, Access Database, GoogleEarth, etc. to determine if potential projects by outside agencies are within or outside of Metropolitan facilities and rights-of-way.

·        Assist in preparing notices of exemption and determination in support of Metropolitan activities and projects.

·        Assist Environmental Planning staff in the preparation and processing of environmental documentation and related tasks.

·        Gather environmental baseline data for use in subsequent Metropolitan environmental reports and tasks.

·        Prepare general correspondence and assist in preparing presentations.

Minimum Requirements:

·        A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Sciences, Geography, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, other environmental sciences, or related field.

·        A valid drivers license in the employee’s state of residence.

MWH, Los Angeles Regional office located in Arcadia, CA, is currently seeking energetic applicants for an Environmental Scientist position to work on a wide variety of projects, primarily for municipal clients.  Activities may include data collection, technical writing, presentation of technical material, and processing of environmental documentation on behalf of water and wastewater districts and agencies throughout southern California and the western U.S.  This is an excellent opportunity to work in a team environment and to take on increasing responsibility, as ability allows.

Responsibilities:

1. Work as part of a team to prepare environmental impact assessment documents in compliance with CEQA and NEPA

2. Collect and analyze data to support engineering studies, primarily water resources investigations

3. Conduct occasional field investigations, with a focus on water quality

4. Prepare and process environmental permit applications in compliance with the Clean Water Act, Fish and Game Code, city and county codes

5. Coordinate with subcontractors in the fields of biology, cultural resources, air quality, noise and traffic

6. Assist with project management duties

Qualifications:

Excellent writing, oral communication, and organizational skills.  Two to five years experience in the preparation of documents in compliance with CEQA and/or NEPA, particularly on public works projects.  Bachelor's degree minimum (Masters preferred) in environmental science, biology, water resources, natural resources management, engineering, chemistry, geology, or another natural science or related field.
