Director,
Biological Resources and Land Management for Southern California
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic senior
biologist and/or resource manager to help build and lead ESA's
Southern California-based biological resources and land
management group. The right candidate would have experience in
habitat conservation planning, habitat restoration and
management, environmental impact assessment and documentation,
regulatory permitting, and environmental compliance monitoring
for land development and resource management projects and
programs. Preferred candidates should have experience working on
a range of development and infrastructure projects, including
community development, water and wastewater, airports, energy,
industrial, and solid waste recycling business sectors that the
firm currently operates in. They should also have a strong
working knowledge of the Federal and State Endangered Species
Act, the Clean Water Act, CEQA, NEPA, and other laws and
regulations applicable to biological resources protection and
management. Candidates with specific endangered species permits
are highly desirable.
Experience with a private consulting firm is preferred, however,
a combination of public and private sector experience is
acceptable. Demonstrated and broad-based experience in the
Southern California region is required, with experience in other
California regions or western states desirable. Must have
leadership capabilities, supervisory skills, recognized
technical credentials, strong writing and communication skills
and experience in marketing/business development. The candidate
would be based out of our Los Angeles, San Diego, or Woodland
Hills offices.

Managing
Associates
with experience and interest in major urban planning and
community development, water resources, energy, or resource
management. We're looking for professionals who are talented and
enthusiastic about managing CEQA and/or NEPA analyses, planning
studies, and environmental permitting projects. Candidates
should have a bachelor's or master's degree in planning or a
related field, five plus years of planning and CEQA/NEPA-related
experience, and excellent writing and communication skills.
Senior
Associates
with broad-based scientific and/or planning knowledge and
experience, and who are well versed in environmental technical
issues. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in a science
or planning-related discipline and a minimum of four years in
the consulting industry. A working knowledge of CEQA and NEPA
compliance preferred.
Air quality
and/or noise specialists
with experience in airport planning and air quality/noise
assessment. This associate-level position requires a bachelor’s
degree in physical or environmental sciences, excellent
technical skills, effective problem-solving ability, excellent
writing skills and the ability to work both independently and
with a team.
Associates
with two to five years experience in the preparation of CEQA and
NEPA documentation, environmental planning and a background in
any of the following disciplines: geology, hydrology, water
quality, air quality, noise, biology and/or land use. Candidates
should have at minimum a bachelor's degree in the environmental
sciences.

Senior Biologist
LSA is seeking a senior-level biologist for its San
Luis Obispo office. Candidates for this position will have at least
five years of experience. Specific areas of expertise shall include
surveying and impact assessments for sensitive/listed species and
their habitats, wetland delineations, resource agency permitting,
mitigation plan development, and preparation of biological sections
for CEQA and NEPA documents. Possession of permits for handling and
capturing listed species is also desirable. Expertise is also
required in conducting surveys. This is a project manager-level
position with responsibilities for scoping and estimating budgets
for the necessary services for prospective project tasks. The
appropriate candidate will be expected to develop new work as well
as oversee existing work and biological staff.
