Water and
Natural ResourcesOf great concern to all residents of
California is the availability of an adequate water supply. A
variety of water resource issues are discussed as part of three
individual sessions. Additional sessions will present information
on habitat restoration case studies, farmland conversion issues,
and wildlife migration corridor preservation strategies. Habitat
conservation strategies will also be addressed through a
session describing alternatives to HCPs and NCCPs. |
CEQA/NEPA
Compliance
Understanding the
California Environmental Quality Act and the National
Environmental Policy Act is at the heart of what we do as
environmental professionals. Session topics will be varied and
include discussions on preparing superior environmental compliance
documents and a summary of recent CEQA/NEPA case law related to
water projects. This year’s conference will also include a CEQA
reform workshop and a CEQA update session.
|
Growth and Regional Planning
Promoting smart growth and green
planning are
key topics in developing future livable
communities.
Session topics will include discussions on school
site planning,
multi-modal
transportation
management strategies, and local community
in-fill trends.
Other sessions will include presentations
on tribal
development, public participation
programs, and
the future of Lake Tahoe.

The Superior
California Chapter of AEP welcomes you to Sacramento for the 2005 AEP
conference. Anticipate a variety of informative in-house sessions,
rousing mobile workshops, and several special events.
The historic
“River City” offers fascinating attractions for you to see and
experience, including the State Capitol, the historic Crocker Art
Museum, art galleries, local theater, historic Old Sacramento and the
Sacramento River. With many of these attractions located within
walking distance of the Holiday Inn Hotel Capitol Plaza, this makes
the hotel an ideal location for the conference. Downtown Sacramento
also offers a variety of delicious dining opportunities including
several unique locations in Old Sacramento. A water taxi service
allows visitors to enjoy even greater entertainment opportunities
along the Sacramento River.
As this year’s
conference is located in Sacramento, the conference theme will focus
on our
leadership in addressing many of the State’s key environmental issues.
Consequently, you can be assured that you will be empowered with ideas
to better assess, plan, and manage the issues that you encounter as an
environmental professional. If that weren’t enough, the conference will
also provide a great opportunity to catch up with old friends!
